{May 27, 2008}   Gum Package-questions

a) What is the feeling you wanted your gum
package to portray? How did you achieve this?

The feeling that i wanted my gum package to have is a very bold and outgoing kind of look. I achieved this by combining two of the hottest colours that are shown to stand out when put together which is black and pink. To me, these are my two favourite colours that go really well together and can make any boring thing look fun and colourful.

b) Who are you targeting your gum to? How did
you achieve this?
I am targeting my gum to girlie teenagers you can say. As they are the ones to find pink and black so interesting. As they are two very outgoing colours they cling to each other really well. That is why i choose to target my audience to mainly people who love to talk and shop=)

c) What area in your design did you use Photoshop?

The areas in my design in which i used photo shop was for the title. I wanted to have a very quick and handwritten kind of look so i choose to use the brushes in photoshop inorder for it to have this kind of look. For the actual logo i used photoshop as well to make it be in the position that i want it to be in to make it seem like it is running in the direction that i want it to run in.
d) More marks are given to designs that are custom created and not just taken from free vectors or free stock photography. What part of your gum
package did you custom design?

The parts that i custom designed were the running streaks behind the puma ahead. I made it to have the twists and turns that i want it to have so it is running in the direction and speed that i want it to have. I also designed the nutrition facts myself to be in the order and style that i want it to be in.  Lastly, i designed the back design of my gum package with the various combination of lines and stars to make it have the outgoing kind of look that i want it to have.

{May 2, 2008}   Logo

1) What does your tattoo/logo represent?

My logo basically represents me initials and a design behind it that is similar to the looks of my favourite flower which is a rose.

2) How did you design your logo/tattoo to represent this?

I made my tattoo represent my initials by combining them together to make it look similar to a joined one letter and used the design that i find most likely to look like my favourite flower which is a rose.

1a)What were you trying to express and
how did you achieve it?
The emotion/feelings that I was trying to portray are what you get from having freedom. Many people around the world strive to have even have a little bit of freedom. So I believe that it is one thing that is definately important to everyone including myself. I achieved this feeling by expressing my perspective and personal thoughts towards having freedom on my own as an individual person. I used solid and vibrant colours as well as a variety of pictures to form an overlapping type of collage/mosaic look. I achieved the look of freedom by using the general idea that everyone gets when they think of freedom which is said to be the “escape of the dove” in which a person lets free of a dove as an expression of freedom. I used this image to make the doves look as though they are coming out of my hand. Along with that i also mixed my own ideas of freedom which is to just let loose and dance. I also used the butterfly stamps to create this kind of look. I believe that when a person is free they are having the time of their life such as hanging out with friends and family by just having a good time and letting go of all their stress. This is one feeling that I definately get in the summer holidays :)
b) What filters did you use and where?
The filters that I used were on my actual self portrait in which I gave a poster edge as well as film-grain mixed type of look. So the image itself has a different textured kind of look and stands out.  I also coloured the picture so that it has  a lighter inner glow near the shade of pink/orange so that it gives a more peaceful and cheerful look to my pic. The last filter i used was to dissolve everything in the background to give a more one-piece all together blurred kind of look.
c) What layer blending mode did you use and where?
The layer blending modes that I used were the color burn tool to create a very darkened and solid affect to the title so that it stands out. I also used the clone stamp tool so that the words on some of the pictures would dissapear that were there because of the original site that I got it from. I used the dissolving tool so that the pictures would come together to look together as one in the background. I also used the overlay icon to give a brightened look near my hand to give a more peaceful/calm look to it to minimize the amount of energy in the background.
d) What special brush did you use and where?
I used a variety of special brushes. Near the bottom right I used the brush of nature to bring out butterflies so it becomes more fresh and colourful. I also used a variety of other stamps such as the  flowers and just stamped them on all around the page to give it a more quick, unique and out there type of look. I used the black spray paint brush around my self portrait in a zig-zag pattern to make it look as though it was ripped out of somewher and just glued on- and it turned out to actually look like that.

{February 28, 2008}   Dpi

1)  If  a 300 dpi and 72 dpi image is printed in the same size, the 300 dpi will come out to be more clearer because it is more detailed and contains more pixels/resolution.  The 72 dpi image won’t come out as clear as it should be.2. A picture created at 1 dpi will be very unclear and blurry.
